Dominic Gessler, MD

Scientific co-founder

Dr. Gessler attended Medical School at the University of Heidelberg and University of Massachusetts (UMass), with clinical experience in Germany, India and the USA.

During medical school, he joined Dr. Guangping Gao’s laboratory at the Horae Gene Therapy Center and the Li Weibo Institute for Rare Diseases Research at UMass to develop gene therapy for disorders of the central nervous system (CNS) and study mechanisms for pathological processes with a primary focus on Canavan disease. His research lead to the most-recently developed gene therapy of Canavan disease. He is currently building upon his MD as a PhD student at UMass.
